Why Quayline
The line that ties ship to quay
Not the ship. Not the quay. The connection.
Quay
The quay is the berth: the place where the ship, the terminal, the warehouse, the boatmen, the agent and customs meet. Quayside is where the real work happens, and where information is most often missing.
Line
A line is first of all the mooring line that holds a ship to the quay. It is also the line of a job, from request to delivery and invoice, and the line between systems.
One idea
The mooring line, turned into the thread that ties the systems and people around a job. Quayline does not replace the ship or the quay. It connects them.
Pronounced "KEE-line". Quayline is a working name.
